Weight Loss Surgery

Weight loss surgery is not a quick fix. Embrace the program because it works.

People who undergo surgery for weight loss are often tempted to just let the surgery do the work for them. Many do not try to make an effort to adapt to a new healthier diet and fitness habits. However, patients who wish to achieve weight loss and maintain a healthy weight will use the surgery as an opportunity to form new habits creating a new healthier way of life. Weight loss surgery is so often the last resort for many people, however, it is not the entire solution. You will need to commit the Circle of Care Program to help you achieve the lifestyle changes that will enhance your success. Ask questions about the after surgery support and make sure you have the time to commit. Research has shown that people who attend their follow-up support programs achieve much better outcomes than those who rely on the surgery alone.

Skin Cancer

Graphic photos could be nauseating or disturbing to readers

I am no stranger to the effects of Australia’s harsh climate now, having been diagnosed with multiple recurrent skin cancers since 2005, this was the final wake-up call for me personally. Nobody told me how dangerous the sun was in Australia. I did not sun bathe on beaches, I was just a typical hard working woman who enjoyed outdoors, gardening and lawnmowing as a self employed job at the time, kicking around in shorts and tank tops. I used sun screen but it did not work for me.

Types of skin cancer.

But first… what is skin cancer? Dermatologists will tell you that skin cancers occur when skin cells are damaged by overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. They fall into two main categories: non-melanoma and melanoma.

Broadly speaking, the majority of skin cancers diagnosed are either: Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC), Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) or Melanoma.

1. Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC).

  • SCCs develop in the squamous cells in the upper layer of the skin, are common on parts of the body that have the most incidental sun exposure (head, neck, hands, forearms and lower legs) and can grow and change quickly over weeks or months.
  • Symptoms of an SCC may include: A thickened red, scaly spot, a lump that has appeared and grown quickly, a spot that looks like a sore that hasn’t healed and/or is painful or tender to touch

2. Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC).

  • BCCs are the most common type of skin cancer in Australia and they develop in the basal cells in the lowest layer of the skin.
  • BCCs are common on parts of the body that receive high levels of sun exposure (the areas that tend to get really burnt at the beach like the head, face, neck, shoulders and back) and grow slowly over time with little symptoms.
  • Symptoms of a BCC may include: A pearly lump, a scaly, dry area that is shiny, something that may look like a pimple and is pale or bright pink in color.

3. Melanoma.

  • Melanoma is the third most common cancer diagnosed in Australia, and is particularly common in young people – it’s a life-threatening form of skin cancer because it can spread to other parts of the body via the lymph nodes (think of melanoma cells as spores).
  • They develop deep within the skin and can be caused by a history of unprotected sun exposure (sunburn and solarium use), and can appear all over the body and develop over a period of weeks to months.
  • There are different types and stages of melanoma – if caught early, melanoma is treatable. This becomes more difficult once the cancer has spread.
  • Symptoms of a melanoma may include: A new or existing spot, mole or freckle, a spot, mole or freckle that changes shape, colour or size and/or had a smudgy, irregular outline.

You can read more about different types of skin cancers on the Cancer Council Australia website.

The first tumor started off as a ten cent piece size which grew on my back to the size of a tomato. As I was in the USA at the time, it took eight months to get it sorted out due to Medicare guidelines. The tumor was alive and pulsating and spitting out gases like it was a living creature on my back. With much Prayer with Prayer warriors God helped me through, as it was a very emotional time, and frightening. It also smelt like rotten flesh while it was still living on my back. A friend put me in touch with a Doctor that helped me with an ointment called “Black salve” and one pill each day to try and terminate the tumor. https://www1.racgp.org.au/ajgp/2018/december/black-salve-in-a-nutshell

The Doctor took a biopsy of the large tumor and it came back as cancer. Then preparation had to be made for my operation to take place. The operation took eight hours because when they went to remove what was a Squamous Carcinoma Tumor it was the size of a baseball inside my back and down my left arm. They had to remove muscle tissue, and my arm became disfigured. The Doctor stated it had been growing for nearly ten years inside my body.

Tumor One:

Squamous Carcinoma removed in 2005 USA

Tumor Number two:

One year later 2006 another bubble occurred on my forehead, looked like a pimple but three weeks went by and it still was the same, so I decided to squeeze it and it sounded like breaking glass the noise then a hole appeared. Therefore, I went back to the same Doctor he took a biopsy and stated it was another Squamous starting but he could not do the operation this time due to being on my face so he sent me to a Plastic Surgeon Doctor.

Tumor Three:

One year to the date in 2007 another two lesions were removed down the side of my nose and my face. No photo’s were taken of these, but I had stitches right down the left hand side of my nose. I was told this would be ongoing to the day I die. and although the tumors were popping out and being removed I would have to have checkups every year at the Cancer medical center.

Tumor Four:

This one started at the end of my scar where I had been cut when removing the large tumor, and it had started to grow again. Here we go again, another mountain popping out of my arm and more operations.

I must say by this time my body had been through many challenges with this rough journey, I had to keep positive for my families sake.

Tumor 5:

This one started like a pimple on the forehead where an old lesion had been exercised and this one turned out to be a basal squamous.

Squamous removed and a Basal Squamous 2021

I have another three forming and will put the information up later after the Skin Cancer clinic has finished doing what they have to do. But please be careful out there in the dangerous rays of radiated sunlight. I now have to stay well covered if I go for walks or outdoors.

Betrayed and Broken

Have you ever felt like you have been betrayed or broken from family and close friends? Well, it happens which is a very hard subject to digest at the best of times.

Our trust in others serves as a potent reminder that the cost in lives of one arguments and conflicts can cause the will of people to fight one another; if we don’t process the reality of betrayal and work through its painful impressions.

Betrayal leaves us at the crossroads. We can choose to act in ways that either favour or improve our personal growth: we can become stuck in a bad moment forever or we can put it behind us for good. We decide our path, nobody declares it for us.

Our subconscious mind gets locked in, what I call a lonely prison cell, and sometimes it can be difficult to remove the thoughts. Some say that we should not drag up the past, but who wants their baggage following them everywhere they go, through every thought and action.  It shows in the body language, when one has not removed their toxic thoughts.  When removing the contents of our brain and wiping old memories out, our bad experiences and thought patterns can keep us stagnant.  The wounds of betrayal hurt very deeply more than most know.

When the behaviour of others is putting you through many painful toxic statements, it fills you with emptiness, not feeling any love when they say they love you. Even though we are taught forgiveness, we do not have to accept the wrong

However, even though we are taught forgiveness, we do not have to accept the wrong behaviour of others; we need to detach ourselves from the pain and frustration. Not allow bitterness to creep in and try and bury itself. Forgiving them is like a weight off our shoulders, and when it is done a sigh of relief fly’s by like the wind and the breeze. However, if we decide to hold on to hatred and anger against others, our personal progress becomes suffocating.

Do We Know It All

The Rule book
“We do not know it all”

We are still learning each and every one of us. We are able not disabled

© Copyright J. Vescio 2009

You know how people around us say

“Oh you are just a know it all”

well that statement is not true.

We have pressures beyond our control in our work place, at home and all around us. So, we cannot cope with the same old garbage in our environment every day. We all blame one another for our own wrong doing, we all blame the boss for our day being obnoxious and we all blame the whole world because it did not happen yesterday. We all make excuses to suit our own stories, we all create a mould around a situation, but we must remember we all have each other, and learn from each other’s experiences, and not criticize because we do not know it all, nobody does as we are still learning.

Some people feel guilty, honouree no focus, depression, and cannot be bothered syndrome. So some lock themselves into a bubble called their security and safety zones, then they create a world of their own. Many do not want to come out of the bubble, because they do not like what they see on the outside and some cannot cope with day to day living it is all too hard.

Everyone is not built the same in their stamina

Their thoughts, words, and physical being. Some are stronger than others but the strong should help the weak to grow. Some are paranoid about their situations; some are too sick and weak to be involved. But they do not know it all, and this is where everyone should meet half way on all issues through sickness and health for better for worse, for richer or poorer, whether in a relationship, a marriage, or business or friendship.

Each and every one of us have our different forte’s and creativity.

We have a Lawyer who

cannot protect his/her clients on every issue of ethical law matters. We have our civil law, commercial law, music law, criminal law etc. So, for that lawyer to assist with a criminal matter and he/she has not studied criminal law seeks another lawyer who has studied that field of law and has had the experience.

Because the other Lawyer did not know it all.

We have a Computer Technician:

As an example this technician knows how to build a computer but does not know about software programs. So he/she seeks advice and assistance from the software technician, because that first technician did not know it all.

We have a singing teacher

Who knows most about music, notes, chord progression, orchestrating, and playing an instrument? But when it came to writing a song with words, it became most difficult

Because he/she did not know it all.

We have a Graphic Artist and web designer

who knows many things about graphical art and web designing, but when it comes to a client’s specific request and it cannot be created, then that person seeks assistance or experienced thoughts from another in the same line of work and WHY because they did not know it all.

Management of a shop or business:

The manager cannot cope with the over load of work, and the sales figures are down. It is the Manager the cops the blow from the top, not the one’s underneath, so that Manager needs to build a working relationship with his/her staff and set goals for each one. If the one’s underneath are not led by the Management or team leaders then who are they going to follow. Lead and others will follow and set good examples of your own presentations and not rely on others that are still learning the field. If the Management cannot do it alone, then a requirement from somebody else that has had experience can be sort to guide that Management to improve the sales and capabilities from all… WHY because each person did not know it all.

Doctors GP’s

Write a referral to a specialist because they do not know it all

Security stations

Have different divisions of guards because they do not know it all. They are taught their rules and guidelines to follow in their separate divisions, and when moving on they then are required to learn new rules…..

Because they did not know it all.

Budgeting needs and finances:

Everyone feels they have the right to work out their budget and their financial needs, but does it balance at the end of the day. Don’t allow yourself to be a know it all because you think it all, and allow somebody to show you the steps to balancing your accounts at the end of the day or week or month. Living beyond your means, over extending your budget is nobody else’s fault but your own, nobody forced you to give some money to that friend to help them pay for their needs. Focus and discipline yourself to become better at your budgeting and finances.

Because you do not know it all.

Communication:

Communication is very important, especially when the chips are down as they say, by locking out the world then the alcohol starts the drugs and many dangerous points in life. If one is feeling depressed find somebody to talk to about what is depressing you. If you cannot find a job, seek help by somebody that has had the experience and they might be able to guide you through the loop holes to success. Contradicting, making hidden agendas of the excuses we all have made in the past about many things, does not help you build confidence in yourself. But I am not a know it all, I have had the experience and many failures in life because I listened to the Know it all.

Attention Seekers:

Sometimes when a child or adolescent wants attention they create an argument purposely, or they steal something of ours, or they mould negative thoughts into their family zoning.

The emotionally immature person, however, has low levels of self-esteem and self-confidence and consequently feels insecure; to counter these feelings of insecurity they will spend a large proportion of their lives creating situations in which they become the centre of attention. It may be that the need for attention is inversely proportional to emotional maturity, therefore anyone indulging in attention-seeking behaviours is telling you how emotionally immature they are. Being the centre of attention alleviates feelings of insecurity and inadequacy but the relief is temporary as the underlying problem remains unaddressed: low self-confidence and low self-esteem, and consequent low levels of self-worth and self-love.

This does not know it all.

Is your mind-poisoned

Adept at poisoning peoples’ minds by manipulating their perceptions of others, especially against the current target.

Are you a drama queen?

Every incident or opportunity, no matter how insignificant, is exploited, exaggerated and if necessary distorted to become an event of dramatic proportions. Everything is elevated to crisis proportions. Histrionics may be present where the person feels he/she is not the centre of attention but should be. Inappropriate flirtatious behaviour may also be present

General notes:

Everyone thinks they know it all, but that is a false statement. Nobody is perfect in this world and the whole world of population does not know it all. If they did, well they must be psychic because rules change every day, programs change every month or yearly, so the bottom line is this answer:

Nobody knows it all, we are not know it all, and we do not know everything at all

We are all still learning about life in general, our work place, our jobs, our creativity, our singing, our hygiene, our health, and many other subjects. Don’t take the cheats way out and start building your life in a bottle or taking drugs, because the heartache is not going to go away, you are just destroying yourself. Now one will say how dare I say this about alcohol and drugs, but we are all abusers to ourselves in one way, some use excuses as escapism, some over eat when they are troubled, some people smoke a cigarette to try and calm down, some drink a ton of coffee to make it easier so we are all abusing our bodies our health and our wealth.

Some lock themselves into the Internet 24/7 to get away from it all, and some lock themselves into books, games or movies to hide from it all. BUT the bottom line is you cannot keep running away from it all, you need to FOCUS – FACE IT – AND BE HONEST TO YOURSELF. If you cannot handle it on your own, then ASK SOMEBODY that has had experience at life in general, knows a little about the BIG WORLD of experiences in the BUSINESS field, or at what you are trying to achieve, and you never know they may come up with the answer you were looking for. BUT, remember this anything we ask for comes in HIS TIME NOT OUR’S.

A true friend does not have to be sitting next to you; they could be 24,000 miles away, chatting to you on the Internet, or talking on the phone. But the next move is all yours, you can either say well this is garbage or read what is written by somebody that has experienced most of these steps, but your Mothers, Your fathers, Your friends, Your Associates and colleagues certainly are not KNOW IT ALLS.

There is only one person in the world that DOES KNOW IT ALL

Grandfathers Message

A grandson came to his old grandfather after feeling angry with a friend who had done him an injustice.

“Let me tell you a story,” said Grandfather. “I, too, at times, have felt great hatred for those who have taken so much, with no sorrow for what they do. But hate wears you down. It does not hurt your enemy. It is like taking poison and wishing your enemy would die. I have struggled with these feelings many times.”
Grandfather paused.

“It is as if two wolves are fighting within me. It is a terrible fight. One wolf is good. He is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith. He lives in harmony with all around him, and does not take offense when no offense was intended. He will only fight when it is right to do so, and in the right way.”

“But the other wolf, ah! He is evil. He is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The littlest thing will set him into a fit of temper. He fights everyone, all the time, for no reason. He cannot think because his anger is so great. It is helpless anger, for his anger will change nothing.”

“Sometimes it is hard to live with these two wolves inside me, for both of them fight to dominate my spirit. The same fight is going on inside of you – and inside every other person too.”

The grandson thought for a moment, looking intently into Grandfather’s eyes.

“Which wolf will win, Grandfather?”

Grandfather smiled and said quietly, “The one you feed.”
